ALBUM OF THE MONTH: THE MONSTERS OF FOLK
This month’s choice is the first album of a new super group, who ironicallyhave named themselves the Monsters of Folk. The band is made up of indie singer/songwriters Jim James (My Morning Jacket) M. Ward en Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) and multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis. They may have been inspired by the Traveling Willburys and the result is equally enjoyable. Each one brought a few new songs to the studio and they have clearly inspired one another. There is variety, quality songs and melodies and obvious fun. Some stand-out tracks are M. Wards Whole Lotta Losin’ , Jim James’ opening track Dear God (Sincerely M.O.F.) and Conor Oberst’s Ahead Of The Curve. You keep listening.
